Food Newspaper reports on Pricing Study 2023

Under the title “Pricing increases its importance”, the trade journal of the food industry extensively covers the current, now fifth edition of the empirical study of the Private University of Göttingen (PFH). After 2009, 2012, 2015 and 2018, pricing processes in business practice have been analyzed again in 2023. The study by pricing expert Professor Dr. Hans-Christian Riekhof and Lukas Breustedt shows that companies attach greater importance to strategic pricing and the topic has gained relevance compared to previous studies.

Particularly due to a series of challenges and resulting requirements, such as supply shortages and unusually high inflation rates, this development has been accelerated. However, not to the extent that the experts had expected. Given the requirements of inflation pricing, it was expected that the importance would increase much more, says Riekhof, one of the authors of the study. Only just under a quarter of all surveyed company representatives rated the relevance of strategic pricing as “very high”.

Pricing Seminar on 22.06/23.06.2023 in Hamburg

Pricing is one of the most underestimated marketing tools. Therefore, the potential for sustainable value creation often remains largely unnoticed. Many companies still lack a long-term strategy to deal with the daily, sometimes complex challenges of the pricing process.

In this two-day, practice-oriented intensive seminar, pricing expert Professor Dr. Hans-Christian Riekhof provides a comprehensible, practical methodological framework for increasing the pricing competence of companies. Using four levers, not only is the theory conveyed, but these are also applied using practical examples from the participants’ everyday work. Therefore, participants from various industries are recommended to bring specific pricing issues from their own work area into the seminar to work on them there.

The seminar is aimed at executives and experts in marketing and sales who are confronted with pricing questions in everyday life and who are looking for a pragmatic way to embed price decisions in a long-term pricing strategy and thereby increase value creation.

Early registration is recommended as places are limited.

03.04.2023 │ Lübeck – Strategic Pricing: Untapped Opportunities for Profit Increase

Empirical studies clearly show: the development and implementation of pricing strategies is often neglected in many companies. As a result, there is a certain uncertainty about enforcing higher prices with customers.

Companies often make it too easy for themselves when they simply pass on rising costs to customers without checking the value they actually create with their products that justifies higher prices. Therefore, value creation potentials can be realized with a targeted and intelligent pricing.

The speaker is pricing expert Professor Hans-Christian Riekhof. In his lecture, he uses practical examples to show how to discover these price potentials with pragmatic tools, how to develop a pricing strategy and how to tap into these profit potentials.

Review for the LEH: Interview with Pricing Expert Riekhof

In the current issue of the Review for the Food Retail Trade, pricing expert Hans-Christian Riekhof is interviewed. The focus is on pricing. In times of rising costs, melting margins and digital processes in food retailing, the question is exciting as to how discounts can be used more targeted and personalized, it says in the preface. Because a strategy like “Three percent for all” is not the right way, says pricing expert Hans-Christian Riekhof. And he also has solutions ready for the service topic of instore navigation. Riekhof is always amazed that retail companies currently have so little data knowledge about customers in the store.

23.09.2022 │ Göttingen – Göttingen Alumni Day of the PFH Private University of Göttingen

The Göttingen Alumni Day, to which the PFH Private University of Göttingen cordially invites you on 23.09.2022, promises to be a particularly interesting event. The popular format has had to pause for five years – not least due to the pandemic. For this year, the initiators Hans-Christian Riekhof, Hubert Schüle and Frank Albe have organized an event where a number of alumni from the 1999 – 2019 graduating classes in the subjects of business informatics, business administration and general management could be won as speakers for the three panels on digitization, globalization and pricing. The Alumni Day is placed under the triad “1 day – 3 topics – 13 opinions”.

In addition to their exciting lectures, there will be many opportunities at the Göttingen Alumni Day – true to the traditional networking idea of bringing students together across generations at their “Alma Mater” – to deepen old friendships, create new connections and devote themselves to an exciting and lively exchange at the reunion. The visitors can look forward to an evening event in Bremer’s wine cellar at the end.

The total of 13 speakers at the Göttingen Alumni Day 2022:

– Christoph Ahlborn (Nestlé Waters Germany GmbH)

– Michael Appel (MHP Management and IT Consulting GmbH)
