Shein CEO Donald Tang: Our Strength is Supply Chain Management
/in Quotes, Unkategorisiert/by Prof. Dr. Hans-Christian RiekhofMercedes-Benz revolutionizes the sales model! What does this mean for your pricing strategy?
/in News / Insights, Unkategorisiert/by Prof. Dr. Hans-Christian RiekhofMercedes-Benz has recently changed its sales model and abolished the traditional price lists to offer more transparency and flexibility. This is reported by various media (including “Auto, Motor und Sport”, chip.de). But what does this mean for companies that also need to rethink their pricing strategies?
The abolition of fixed price lists at Mercedes-Benz could have a signaling effect: customers increasingly expect transparency and tailor-made offers. However, such a model requires an extremely agile and well-thought-out pricing strategy. Companies that rigidly adhere to traditional pricing models could quickly fall behind. Instead, a dynamic pricing model that adapts to market conditions and individual customer requirements could play a decisive role.
Instead of fixed price lists, more transparency and flexibility
But beware: With flexibility comes complexity. Pricing becomes more demanding and requires a precise market analysis and a deep understanding of customer needs. This is where the pricing strategy of UNICconsult comes into play. Our RSEC model (Research, Strategy, Execution, Controlling) ensures that your pricing strategy not only meets current requirements, but is also future-proof.
Mercedes-Benz’s decision regarding traditional price lists shows that the market is ready to take new paths. Companies that adapt their pricing strategies early can benefit from this change and secure competitive advantages.
Don’t miss this opportunity! Now is the perfect time to rethink your pricing strategy. Contact the experts at UNICconsult and get your company fit for the future!

/0 Comments/in News / Insights, Unkategorisiert/by Prof. Dr. Hans-Christian RiekhofUnder the title “Pricing increases its importance”, the trade journal of the food industry extensively covers the current, now fifth edition of the empirical study of the Private University of Göttingen (PFH). After 2009, 2012, 2015 and 2018, pricing processes in business practice have been analyzed again in 2023. The study by pricing expert Professor Dr. Hans-Christian Riekhof and Lukas Breustedt shows that companies attach greater importance to strategic pricing and the topic has gained relevance compared to previous studies.
Particularly due to a series of challenges and resulting requirements, such as supply shortages and unusually high inflation rates, this development has been accelerated. However, not to the extent that the experts had expected. Given the requirements of inflation pricing, it was expected that the importance would increase much more, says Riekhof, one of the authors of the study. Only just under a quarter of all surveyed company representatives rated the relevance of strategic pricing as “very high”.

/in Unkategorisiert, Unkategorisiert/by Prof. Dr. Hans-Christian RiekhofPricing is one of the most underestimated marketing tools. Therefore, the potential for sustainable value creation inherent in it often remains largely unnoticed. Many companies still lack a long-term strategy to deal with the daily, sometimes complex challenges of the pricing process.
In this two-day practical intensive seminar, pricing expert Professor Dr. Hans-Christian Riekhof clearly conveys a practical methodological framework for increasing the pricing competence of companies. Using four levers, not only is the theory conveyed, but these are also applied using practical examples from the participants’ everyday work. Therefore, participants, who can come from a wide variety of industries, are recommended to bring specific pricing issues from their own work area into the seminar to work on them there.
The seminar is aimed at executives and experts in marketing and sales who are confronted with pricing issues in everyday life and who are looking for a pragmatic way to embed price decisions in a long-term pricing strategy and thereby increase value creation.
Early registration is recommended as places are limited.

Food Newspaper reports on PFH Pricing Study 2023
/in News / Insights, Unkategorisiert/by Prof. Dr. Hans-Christian RiekhofThe Food Newspaper (LZ) picked up on the current pricing study of the PFH Private University of Göttingen in a post on June 13. Pricing expert Prof. Dr. Hans-Christian Riekhof and Lukas Breustedt had examined pricing processes in business practice in the spring of 2023 and interviewed companies from various industries.
The LZ headlines “Pricing is becoming more important” and explains that supply chain problems and inflation have led to pricing being more important for some companies today than it was a few years ago. Nevertheless, pricing is of very high importance for only about a quarter of the companies surveyed.
