15.11.2017 │Hamburg – Lecture “Underestimated Pricing”

Pricing is the most important profit lever in a company. Why is it that this aspect is still underestimated in so many companies? These and other topic-specific questions are addressed by marketing and pricing expert Prof. Dr. Hans-Christian Riekhof in the lecture “Why strategic pricing is neglected in many companies” on November 15 at the AGA Northern German Business Association Wholesale – Foreign Trade – Service e.V. in Hamburg.

Other topics:

  • Pricing must be cross-departmental and therefore becomes complicated – how do you manage the complexity?
  • Pricing requires research – how to avoid endless debates about the “right” price?
  • Pricing strategies require consistency in implementation – how to develop clear pricing roadmaps for individual business areas?
  • Pricing strategies must be measured – what contribution do pricing scorecards make?

A discussion round is planned after the lecture.

Professor Riekhof teaches International Marketing at the Private University of Göttingen. For 15 years, he has been conducting empirical studies on pricing and advises international corporations as well as medium-sized companies on the review of their pricing strategy, the optimization of pricing processes and the introduction of efficient price controlling. Previously, he was responsible for pricing topics as a marketing director in the Otto Group and as a business unit manager in Beiersdorf AG.

09.11.2017 │ Göttingen Alumni Day with Trend Research Lecture

The Göttingen Alumni Day is being held for the first time on 17.11. and 18.11.2017 by the PFH Göttingen. At 10.30 a.m. on 17.11., Dr. Hans-Christian Riekhof, Professor of International Marketing at PFH, will give a lecture on trend research. He will discuss the technological developments we should expect.

The idea behind the Göttingen Alumni Day, as summarized by Prof. Dr. Frank Albe, President of PFH, is: “Networks are becoming increasingly important – and not just since the advent of digital channels like LinkedIn, Xing or Facebook. Let’s continue to develop our personal PFH network!”

Started in 1995, the PFH Göttingen now counts over 4000 alumni 22 years later. The first Göttingen Alumni Day is aimed at them, to which the PFH invites on 17 November 2017. The shared study time is a phase of life in which personal contacts are made, important experiences are gathered and responsibility for one’s own successes and failures must be taken.

Dr. Hans-Christian Riekhof, the first appointed professor of PFH, together with the PFH President Prof. Dr. Frank Albe, initiated this day. They were able to win seven alumni of the management courses from the graduation years 1999 to 2014 for the design of the program. They will report on the challenges of their current professional responsibility, but also provide insight into the course of their very different careers: founder – entrepreneur – manager.

Content Marketing: The Brand as a Media Event

Content Marketing: The Brand as a Media Event.

An empirical study by Prof. Dr. Hans-Christian Riekhof, PFH Göttingen 2017

Lecture on March 21, 2017, Marketing Club Hannover
Prof. Dr. Hans-Christian Riekhof, International Marketing, PFH Göttingen 2017

Content Marketing means inventing or discovering exciting stories for a brand or a company, staging and preparing them and ensuring their distribution, especially also in the media. What is behind the underlying idea of communicating without selling?

A very small part of companies have so far developed a content marketing strategy or use a corresponding concept paper. Content Marketing is not so new at its core. Are the potentials already exhausted? What goals are pursued with it? What expectations are associated with it? The present study report provides insight into the success factors.

Are Push Notifications on Customer Smartphones Worthwhile?

The willingness to pay for location-based push notifications on the customer’s smartphone. Short survey among retail decision-makers in Germany.

An online survey by Prof. Dr. Hans-Christian Riekhof, International Marketing, PFH Göttingen 2017

For the short survey among retailers, which was conducted in the period from June 15, 2017 to June 30, 2017 by online survey of the PFH Private University of Göttingen by Prof. Dr. Hans-Christian Riekhof, a total of 115 top managers, managing directors and retail experts were invited to participate by mail. Even if the survey cannot be considered representative, it can nevertheless be assumed that the results provide meaningful indications of the willingness to pay in retail for performance-based location-based marketing.

The evaluation shows, among other things, that there is a high willingness to pay in retail for push notifications on the customer’s smartphone. Retail is willing to pay! Interesting details: The willingness to pay increases when customers are preselected according to location-related criteria. And: The willingness to pay increases further when customers demonstrably enter their own store after receiving the push notification.
