One may argue about his methodology for a long time, the results of the Collins research are nevertheless worth considering. According to his empirical studies, the particularly successful, so-called “take-off” companies are characterized by a number of peculiarities that clearly distinguish them from the average companies.
These include modesty of management, energetic assertiveness and persistence, long-term company affiliation at the top of the company, disciplined, honest and consistent thinking, realism and the focus on a few simple principles and concepts.
The Collins principles for take-off companies are understandable, but they do not exactly correspond to the common Business School teaching. Nevertheless – or precisely because of this – very worth reading.
