The Pricing Seminar Dates for 2020 are here

The right pricing can have a significant effect on business success, on sales and profit margins. However, many companies still do not have a formulated pricing strategy or – if they do – neglect relevant aspects in the pricing processes and underestimate the dynamics of the markets and the influence of their pricing policy.

Participants can once again learn the right approach to the challenges of strategic pricing in 2020 at the seminars of Hans-Christian Riekhof. For the coming year, there are currently four dates available in Hamburg from the long-experienced pricing specialist:

on 19/20 March 2020
on 18/19 June 2020
on 1/2 October 2020
on 3/4 December 2020

In the intensive seminar, the marketing professor of the Private University of Göttingen (PFH) provides participants with relevant and immediately applicable expert knowledge about strategic pricing. Participants learn in a practical way how to formulate the building blocks of a long-term pricing strategy, the correct review of pricing processes, how to improve price communication and how to introduce efficient price controlling.

The venue is the proven Gastwerk Hotel Hamburg. With its stylish ambience and ideal premises, with its pleasant tranquility and good service, it offers the ideal framework for Professor Riekhof’s intensive seminar.

Current Pricing Study 2018 – the results

The current Pricing Study 2018 is the fourth edition of the empirical investigation of pricing processes in companies. Already in the years 2009, 2012 and 2015, the PFH Private University of Göttingen presented an empirical pricing study. The aim of the study is to examine the pricing processes of various companies of different sizes and from different industries. A special focus is placed on the formation of prices and pricing. In addition, we want to clarify potentials in the individual pricing processes and show which remarkable approaches to pricing other companies can also apply.

What many companies still underestimate: the strongest profit driver is pricing, it therefore requires high attention. This statement was already confirmed in the previous pricing studies 2009 (Riekhof/Lohaus), 2012 (Riekhof/Wurr) and 2015 (Riekhof/Wa) and is again confirmed by the result of the current Pricing Study 2018 by the pricing expert Riekhof, in collaboration with Janina Wille.

In most business areas, a business process-oriented perspective has prevailed in recent decades. In logistics and production, in quality management and in order processing, in customer service and in procurement, even in research and development, a consistent process thinking is firmly anchored in most companies. This is not the case in the marketing area in our estimation. The causes can only be speculated. Possibly this circumstance is related to the fact that many marketing topics are rather project-related and more standardized processes seem to set too narrow limits to the supposed creativity of the marketing experts.

Study on Pricing Processes in Automotive Suppliers

The present study, which examines the pricing processes of automotive suppliers, (Prof. Dr. Hans-Christian Riekhof/Maximilan Mitschke) is another empirical pricing study by the PFH Private University of Göttingen. This study is the first to focus on automotive suppliers. Due to often long-standing supply relationships between OEMs and suppliers, as well as very different power constellations and dependencies, it is expected that pricing in this area involves special challenges.

Potential in the pricing of automotive suppliers often not yet recognized

An important result should be mentioned here in advance: As the pricing studies from the years 2009 (Riekhof/Lohaus), 2012 (Riekhof/Wurr) and 2015 (Riekhof/Ha) were able to show, many companies have not yet recognized that pricing is the most important profit driver in the company – at least pricing surprisingly does not consistently receive a very high internal value.
