Gerhard Wiesheu, the head of the traditional banking house Metzler, has a very nice example of the successful digitization of public administration, namely Norway.
“There are some, one of the biggest obstacles is bureaucracy, and Germany must drive digitization. If you combine both topics, it can unleash a lot of potential. I recently met the Digital Minister of Norway, there are virtually no more citizens’ offices there, all applications, all transactions can be handled via the smartphone. As a result, Norway saves three billion dollars annually, with a population of 5.5 million people. Calculate that for 82 million.”
