Ulrike Malmendier on Industrial Electricity Prices
Any intervention in a market requires a particularly convincing justification. She has a very clear opinion on industrial electricity prices:
“I do not believe that an artificial adjustment of long-term changing structures is really helpful. Such price distortion only leads to the economy sticking to production methods in which we have a strategic disadvantage. In addition, lower electricity prices are also in sight for Germany thanks to the expansion of renewable energies.”
