The CEO of Total Energies Patrick Pouyanné relies on an interesting pricing strategy in the marketing of energy from wind power: 70% long-term contracts for large customers, 30% marketing via the spot market: “We buy a rare commodity, namely sea areas for wind turbines, which we can use for a very long time. It is up to us to sell the electricity at a price we want. We will not hastily ask the German state for a long-term differential contract for a project that will produce from 2030. We will develop the project and then want to sell about 70 percent of the electricity to large customers from the industry with contracts at an acceptable price. We keep the remaining 30 percent to sell them on the spot market.” – Patrick Pouyanné, CEO of Total Energies, in “Germany is our target market in Europe – The Total boss explains why the French energy group wants to play a central role in the German electricity market in the future – and what investments he already has in mind”, Handelsblatt, 17., 18., 19.
