“The more tasks governments and companies outsource, the less they know how to do something. This hollows out organizations, they get stuck and can’t develop further. When consultants are involved everywhere, there is little ‘learning by doing’. The clients of consulting firms are ‘infantilized’ – this verb was used by the then conservative British Minister Lord Agnew in 2020 to describe the effects of outsourcing on the civil service in the United Kingdom.”
